On June 27th, 2018 U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement in a letter to President Donald Trump effective July 31st, 2018. This decision by the 81 year old Justice gives President Trump his second opportunity to shape the Supreme Court for decades to come.
President Trump said he will announce his choice to replace Justice Kennedy on July 9th, 2018 “in a shot heard around the world”
The news that Justice Kennedy was retiring has caused the Senate to go into turmoil. Confirmation of a Presidential appointment is always confirmed by the Senate, in the case of the Supreme Court it is a life-time appointment. In the Senate 51 votes are needed for confirmation.
What does that mean? It means every Republican Senator (51) must vote to confirm!!! This is already a problem, since both Republican Senators Collins and Murkowski have already said they will not vote for confirmation if the candidate supports the overturn of Roe v. Wade. The Senators have no idea about the credentials or the person, its all about abortion.
ELECTIONS MATTER!!! Both Senator Collins and Murkowski support abortion rights even though their Parties platform remains Pro-life. The Republican party is weakened when we elect candidates who do not support life and marriage.
Ok my friends this battle for confirmation will be all about ABORTION!!! Stay tuned…
