Our speaker this year, is Vicki Thorn. Vicki is the foundress of Project Rachel and the executive director of the National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation & Healing, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has a degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a certificate in Spiritual Direction. Vicki is a bereavement facilitator, trained by the American Academy of Bereavement and a prenatal loss facilitator, certified by Resolve Through Sharing Prenatal Loss. Vicki also holds a certificate in Trauma Counseling from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She is a longtime member of the Association of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology & Health, and is an invited workshop presenter.
Vicki is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage & Family at the Catholic University of America.
Vicki is an international speaker and author on the topics of abortion’s aftermath and women, men and others, as well as the process of post-abortion healing. She also speaks internationally on the biology of bonding and attachment. She has spoken in the following countries: Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, Poland, Chile, Slovakia, Romania, Sardinia, Spain, France, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Honk Kong, and many others. She has presented at the World Youth Days, in Madrid and Poland. She has spoken to the Bishops of Latin America on Project Rachel as a Ministry of Mercy.
She has written articles on Project Rachel and the aftermath of abortion on women, men, family members & the healing process. Vicki also speaks and writes about the sociological changes in society since 1960, and the spiritual and psychological wounds carried by generation X and generation Y, as a result of those changes. Vicki writes about the role of stress in making abortion decisions, as well as ways to help women in crisis pregnancies.
Recently, Vicki has been doing presentations on her recent research on the Biochemistry of Sex, or the Biology of the Theology of the Body.
Vicki is married to Professor William Thorn. They are the parents of six children, and the proud grandparents of six granddaughters and four grandsons.
How lucky is Lake County Right to Life to have Vicki as a speaker. Vicki will combine abortion, abortion aftermath, and the Biology of the Theology of the Body, into one talk for us titled:
“What We Didn’t Know: Understanding Our Biology and Wounds”
Not only is Vicki involved with the Catholic outreach for abortion, but, Vice-President Mike Pence recently praised the concept and implementation of Project Rachel and its healing for all those affected by abortion.
